Course Conditions. Lanzarote has the image of one of the toughest races on the Ironman calendar, and this year underlined that point. While both the swim and the run were tough but pretty normal for Lanzarote, strong winds and a hard bike course led to very slow times on the bike, probably the toughest ever in Lanzarote. Monday morning meant that it was time for the post-race Ironman UK awards ceremony to find out if I had done enough to qualify for Kona. Eventually the waiting was over; it was confirmed that there were 4 automatic Kona slots available in M30-34 and Brian Fogarty already had his Kona slot from Ironman Lanzarote.
For the second time since its beginning in 2012, the IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote will take place in the beautiful town of Playa Blanca and its surroundings.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote is a qualifying race for the 2021 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. Age Group slots and 2 Pro slots will be distributed according to the number of athletes in each group, guaranteeing at least one slot for each category. A total prize purse of $25,000* will be divided between the top 6 men and women in the Professional category.

* The prize money will be paid after deduction of personal tax, according to the international agreements for each country. The prize money will be paid to the athletes by bank transfer (it does not include bank commissions). The prize money winners will receive a form via email a few days after the race. This form must be completed and returned to the event organizers along with a copy of the athlete's ID/passport.
